It is reported that the local government of Albay with the campaign Piso Para ki Michael (Piso Para kay Michael) has raised over P200,000 for Filipino Olympian Michael Martinez.
Upon arriving from Sochi, Russia, the figure skater has been met by Albay Governor Joey Salceda to hand over the funds to him. Michael was teary-eyed when he received the funds.
The Governor said thatid Martinez’s qualification to the Sochi Winter Olympics alone is worth the commendation and he assured that Albay will be behind Martinez in his future tournaments. This is to make sure that the figure skater will no longer have to scrape for funds to finance his training.
