"She's Dating the Gangster" Starts Filming This March

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla star as an underdog with a fighting spirit and a bad boy with sweetness in the film adaptation of the bestseller "She’s Dating the Gangster" by local author Bianca Bernardino.

The young adult romantic novel "She’s Dating the Gangster" is a story about two teenagers, Athena Dizon and Kenji de los Reyes, whose pretend relationship eventually turns deeper.

Bernardino said that Padilla is like Kenji who have that persona of a "bad boy" but also have a sweetness beneath the tough veneer. On the other hand, Kathryn, whose roles often feature underdogs with a fighting spirit, is a good fit with the character of Athena.

Trivia of the "She’s Dating the Gangster" book:

• first earned a following on social media-based publishing site Wattpad in 2006
• became a bestseller in local bookstores Powerbooks and National Bookstore after its release by Summit Media in March 2013
• it has sold over 50,000 copies according to Summit Media President Ms. Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng

The film adaptation will be directed by lady director Cathy Garcia-Molina and will begin filming in March.
