A New York-based Filipino Hair Artist Cuts Homeless People's Hair For Free

The story of Mark Bustos has gone viral this week. He is a Filipino hairstylist who already lives and work in New York City.

It is in the blood of Filipino to be very helpful and passionate to other people especially to needy. Mark Bustos never forgets the Filipino values even if he's already living in an affluent environment and having a great job.

Bustos, as he told on huffingtonpost.com, spends his day-off which is every Sunday venturing through the city in search of anyone in need and offer them a haircut.

He usually approach people with the same, simple phrase - "I want to do something nice for you today." Six people is the maximum he can cut every Sunday. He posts those hairstyles of the people he managed to cut in his Instagram account.
"The feeling was so rewarding, I decided to bring the positive energy back to NYC," Bustos, 30, told The Huffington Post in an email, noting he's also given haircuts to the needy in Jamaica, Costa Rica and Los Angeles.

Bustos said he intentionally cuts hair for the homeless in open, well-traveled spaces like street corners and sidewalks so that the public can watch -- "not to see me," he notes, but so that others can find inspiration in the good deed, and be kind to those less unfortunate as well.

"Even a simple smile can go a long way," Bustos told HuffPost.
